IN THIS SERIES OF BLOG POSTINGS, WE FEATURE OUR ALUMNI AS THEY TALK ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE BEING IN THE PROGRAM AS WELL AS THEIR UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS AS FORMER XU DEVCOM STUDENTS.

WHY DID YOU TAKE DEVCOM?
I chose XU DevCom based on three points: A. XU is the only university in MisOr that offers such a course; B. I want to improve and deepen my understanding on the intricacies of effective communication to competently cater various clientelles; and C. I wish to be engaged in and actively take part of a sustainable community development efforts.
CAN YOU TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE PROGRAM?
My DevCom years were and will always be one of my best life’s decisions.
It opened up a broad spectrum of new perspectives, afforded me with similarly-minded, promising young professionals, and offered me with endless opportunity to help and serve in whatever capacity using primarily my training and background as a Devcom graduate. Actually, my active participation in the Agriculture Student Council, in XU Central Student Govt plus my decision to earn my Juris Doctor in XU College of Law, and to work in Local Govt Unit were strongly influenced by DevCom.
Devcom has been a part and parcel of my professional growth and engagement.
WHAT ARE YOU BUSY ABOUT THESE DAYS?
At present, I am a Local Legislative Officer of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Misamis Oriental.

DO YOU GET TO APPLY YOUR LEARNINGS IN DEVCOM?
Yes, because of my Devcom training i can easily deal with and connect with various officers, elected and appointed, in Misamis Oriental pertaining to their legislative measures which have relevance and influence in the determination and formulation of their respective LGUs economic policies and legislative priorities.
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE COURSE TO THE YOUNGER ONES, WHY/WHY NOT?
I am strongly recommending DevCom as a course because it trains students to become multi-dimensional and result-oriented professionals responsive to the real needs of our time. Our time needs more DevCom-trained individuals. Devcom is not just a course, it is way of life.
