Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan – In a celebration of academic excellence and outstanding achievements, Andre Socorro F. Doria, an incoming senior of the DevCom Department received a prestigious honor at the recently-concluded 17th Magis Awards on July 3, 2023 at the XU Covered Court. Doria was bestowed with the esteemed Francis Xavier Exemplar Award for his remarkable feat as a Global UGRAD Exchange Student.
“I am immensely grateful to the incredible individuals within XU’s Higher Education community who were integral to my endeavor and in doing so have shown me, in their own ways of support, the spirit of Magis,” Andre’ said in his Facebook post regarding the award.
“The 17th XU Magis Awards, themed “Going All In,” aptly characterizes the remarkable journey of Xavier Ateneans in the past year. The ceremony underscored the concept of going all in by daring to achieve the seemingly impossible and leaving a mark on each of their side in Mindanao, the Philippines and other countries.
From my perspective, this sentiment justly captures the surreal experience of braving the Global UGRAD exchange program in the US, and returning home with more aspirations. However, I would like to fully share the full extent of such a transformative journey for another day,” He expressed.

The Magis Awards, an annual search for outstanding projects, student organizations, and individuals who embody Ignatian ideals of service and excellence, recognized Andre for his exceptional achievements. The St. Francis Xavier Exemplar Award specifically honors students and student organizations that have brought honor to Xavier University by receiving awards and recognition from other institutions on a national or international level. Andre’s dedication, high achievements, and commitment to his field of study exemplified the spirit of the award.
