QUEZON CITY — XU DevCom took part in the Communication and Media Studies Conference (CMSC) 2024 organized by the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE) last October 18 and 19, held in St. Paul University, Quezon City.
DevCom faculty member Karl Noob participated in CMSC as a research presenter in one of the parallel sessions with the theme “Stories of Resistance, Reluctance, and Acceptance in the New Media Ecology.” He presented his study with the title “SocMed crusade: An exploratory analysis of the Crusader Publication’s 2022 electoral coverage on Facebook Using Platz’ Codebook.”

On the other hand, faculty member and PACE Public Relations Officer Rechelle Barraquias also played a role in organizing the national event. She facilitated several sessions in PACE of the Future Student Camp (PFSC), wherein undergraduate students from different institutions showcased their major projects, events, films, and campaigns in their respective schools.
In the previous year, it is recalled that 5 of the XU DevCom students also participated in the similar event, presenting their major project “Lansad: Kinse-nyera” on October 20-21, 2023, at Lyceum Philippine University – Cavite.
PACE is the leading and biggest professional organization of communication and media educators and practitioners in the country. It is also noted that they are celebrating its 50th year next year, with its national conference and student camp expected to happen around the same month, October 2025.
